Growing up in a small village in India, Mr Sivaprakasam became the first educated man in his village which led to his appointment as Chief Engineer in Public Works Department. Over the years he witnessed the death of too many children resulting from undiagnosed and untreated heart disease ddue to unavailability medical care. He was determined to rectify this and lead positive change, so upon his retirement he took the position of Rotary President and commenced worked to serve the needy.

His son, Dr. C. S. Muthukumaran also shared in this vision. In his pursuit to save lives, he left for the UK where he spent the next ten years specialising in Paediatric Cardiology. Returning to India, he set about sharing his knowledge and expertise to diagnose and treat children with Congenital Heart Disease. Today, he has performed more than 10,000 Lifesaving procedures including cardiac catheterizarion, ASD device closures, VSD device Closures, PDA device closures and so on
